Nikila Badua

Nikila (aka MamaWisdom1) is a Cultural Community Artist from the Hawaiian Islands of mixed Pacific Islander, Native American, and Euro-American lineages. Raised between Hawaii and the Bay Area, she has been dedicated to cultural and community-based projects for over 25 years as a muralist, designer, performer, arts educator, and organizational strategist. Her work as an advocate and grassroots organizer for youth, Indigenous, and environmental movements has played an influential role within shaping her creative path, utilizing the arts as a tool for decolonization, building cultural relations, and reimagining education. Nikila is a Co-Founder of Honolulu-based media project “Slapp Radio”, and has served as the artist for Oahuʻs annual Lā Hoʻi Hoʻi Ea Sovereignty Restoration Day since 2013.
